Guitar & Ukulele Lessons in Katong, Singapore

Guitar is where The Sixth String started, and it’s still what we do best. For the past decade we’ve taught acoustic, classical and electric guitar from our studio at East Coast Road, Katong— to primary school kids picking up their first instrument, to working adults finally learning the songs they grew up with.

We don’t run a one-size-fits-all syllabus. We start every student with a structured first month, then shape the lessons around what you actually want to play, whether that’s Grade 8 classical repertoire or getting through an Ed Sheeran set at a wedding.

What you’ll learn

• Correct posture, fretting and picking technique from the first lesson
• Open and barre chords, and the strumming patterns behind most pop songs
• Fingerstyle playing, scales and lead technique for electric players
• Reading chord charts, tab and standard notation
• Music theory as it applies to the guitar, not as a separate chore
• Exam preparation for ABRSM, Trinity Rock & Pop, and LCM/RGT if you want the graded route

Who it’s for

Children from around age six, teenagers, and adults of any age. Complete beginners are the majority of our new students — you don’t need to own a guitar to book your first lesson, and we’ll help you choose one when you’re ready.We teach three guitar types: classical (nylon string), acoustic (steel string) and electric. If you’re not sure which suits you, tell us the music you like and we’ll point you the right way.
